25th June The Whaley Waltz

As the camping weekend has been changed, I wondered if anyone fancies tackling a fell race in Derbyshire. It is organised by the Goyt Valley Striders on Whaley Bridge carnival day. The fell run is 5.75 miles and consists of running uphill to Windgather Rocks and back down again  - only you have to cross the Goyt river to get to the finish. On a clear day, I can assure you that you will be amazed by the stunning scenery. The race is open to all abilities, not just the superfit fell runners. Goyt Valley Striders have a beginner ladies/ men section, called the Goyt Valley Strollers, and they take part. If anyone is interested, camping can be found in my daughter Clare's garden, plus some accommodation in the house. Sunday could be spent walking, running or cycling, because it really is beautiful countryside. But ..... be warned the hills are 'big'! Anyone with a cycling interest may like to know that the Cat and Fiddle is a stone's throw away.
