No straw bales or ales

Not quite as challenging as the straw bale race, but an opportunity to represent the club at the Essex Senior Cross Country County Relay Championships.

This year it takes place at Stubbers, Havering (just the other side of the M25 near Upminster) on Sunday 17 January (11am start). We need 5 people for menís team and 4 for womanís team, with each person running one lap. Not sure of exact distance but Iím guessing around 3-4 miles per lap.

Open to all club members (provided either born or resident for at least 9 months in Essex), and itís free as the club stumps up for entry fee.  Therefore should be able to get at least two teams for men and women.

Closing date for entries is 6 Jan so I need to get the entry off soon. Therefore could you let me know in the next few days, via forum, email or at the club, whether you want to do it.

Cheers
Mark

Entries for this have to be in by the 6th, next week, that means posting over the weekend. At the moment we don't have one team. If you are interested please reply now - thanks.

Hi Peter and Mark,  I can do the Hadleigh Cross country and the Essex Senior Cross Country if there are any takers for this.

Kind Regards Louise

Re: No straw bales or ales

I have entered a men's team for the XC relays, but not enough female interest to make up a women's team (unless you fancy running all 4 legs Louise?).

Will post details of Essex road relays on 20 March in Chelmsford soon, if anyone is interested. I think we put out 4 teams last year.

Re: No straw bales or ales

Hi Mark,

My Achilles rehab is taking far longer than I'd hoped so there's no chance for me in the XC relays; 20 March for the road seems more likely....

Cheers,

Steve

Hopefully i will be back at a reasonable pace for the road relay, starting back from my knee trouble this week ( fingers crossed) so will have to see how it goes as have not run since Nov 11th. Maybe a candidate for the Nightmare Team!!

Re: No straw bales or ales

Just had a message that Howard from Essex AAA rang me to say that Sunday's relay at Havering has been cancelled, so alas no dream team this time.
